We presently offer two types of weaving classes: A long-form class that spans 8 weeks and a short-form class that spans one afternoon.
Long Form Class

The long-form class is taught by Master Weaver Peggy Church in the Mill Museum’s weaving studio on the second floor of the main building.
Usually, there are 8 lessons on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The long-form class covers everything from using a warping board to prepare warp fibers to practicing different weaving techniques on a loom the student has set up. This class is ideally suited to those who wish to understand the whole process, as well as those wishing to refine their craft. The cost is subject to change; for the most recent information, contact us at weaving@millmuseum.org.
Please note that class size is limited.
Short Form Class

The short-form class is taught by Midge Colombo.
In the short-form class the loom is already prepared for weaving. This allows students to immediately begin weaving and produce a table square or hand towel in three hours. This class is ideal for those wishing to experience weaving without having to understand all of the details of preparing a loom. It is a perfect way to “test the waters” without a great deal of time and expense.
The cost for the short-form class is $45 and the capacity for each session is three students. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis according to when payment is made. Payment may be made in-person at the Museum’s front desk during normal business hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. Payment by card may also be made over the phone at (860) 456-2178 during normal business hours. For all other inquiries please contact us at weaving@millmuseum.org
